If you remember earlier I said that I lay my tracks at a specific order I do drums, and bass, then guitar, and so on and so forth? Well in your mixer you want to do the same thing with your busses. Organize Your Group Busses in Logic Pro X Under each track in the mixer will be a small notes window. There's a whole bunch of stuff that you can turn on and off and at the bottom you'll see “notes”. From there go to "View" here, and then go to "Channel Strip Components". So to do that just hit "X" to pull up the Mixer.
Place your cursor in the note area and start typing your notes.Īnother area in Logic where you actually make notes is in the track mixer on the individual tracks itself. This is going to bring up the "List View" and go to the Markers tab. So the way you would do that is just select a marker and hit "D" on your keyboard. So again just hit "Option + C" on the keyboard and colour away! Putting Notes to UseĪnother cool thing that we can do with markers is we can add notes to each specific marker. And just like everything else, we can colour them. So long as marker view is on, drag the cycle region down and you will have a marker for that section. The easiest way to create markers is to place the cycle region to the area you want to create a marker for. The next way to organize your session is by having markers set up for the different sections of the song you are working on. Same thing, "Option + C" and then you can change the colour that way as well. Another way you can do this is you can just highlight the specific regions you want to colour.
And you'll see it's changed down on the mixer. You can also go to "View" and it'll say "Show Colours", just click on that, and then just pick a colour. Select the tracks that you want to have be a specific colour and then just hit "Option + C" on your keyboard and that will pull up the colour palette. So if you're starting a new session the way you would want to do this is to start assigning colours to your tracks. There are a number of icons supplied, and you can also create custom icons. So in Logic Pro you would do this in the Inspector.
You can add little icons to each track that'll also help you further organize your session. It takes half a second, so just name your tracks. There's no good reason to have track 1, track 2, track 3, just to get lost in. You do not want to leave the default track names. The second part is just naming each track. This is something I do every time, always, without fail. The high hats, overheads, and then the room mikes. Then going from the smallest tom to the largest Tom. So I always start off with a kick, snare top, snare bottom.
